You Are Entitled to a “Good Faith Estimate”

A Good Faith Estimate is a clear and upfront cost projection for medical services, meant to help patients without health insurance understand and plan for their healthcare expenses.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency medical treatment. This includes the cost of consultations, procedures, tests, prescriptions, equipment and hospital fees.
  • You have the right to expect a Good Faith Estimate at least 1 business day before receiving any treatment. These estimates can be requested before scheduling a service as well.
  • If you receive a bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by a minimum of $400, you will have the right and ability to dispute that bill. Because of this, it’s important to make a copy of and safely store your Good Faith Estimate upon receipt.
